Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Laredo, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

The City of Laredo Plaza Theatre is an existing movie theatre building located in downtown Laredo, Texas. The scope of work for the plaza theatre envelope & facade enhancements involves the contractor to repair and rehabilitate the exterior and envelope of the plaza theatre. The contractor shall remove and salvage all existing exterior lighting, including neon tube lighting and sconces and shall install new led lighting that will utilize the same openings and mounting points of the existing lighting. all existing neon tube lighting will be removed and replaced with skeletonized led lighting or approved equal as referenced on specifications. contractor to coordinate existing lighting fixture mounting openings for reuse. Contractor to coordinate with the owner for storage of all equipment removed including lighting fixtures and neon lights. In addition, new lighting will be installed throughout the stucco beams/coves, behind the metal panels, at the base of the metal columns above the marquee, at entrance metal soffit ceiling, at lettering and vertical marquee including antenna, and lighting above the exterior doors. The new lights will be tied to a new electric panel inside the building in the mechanical room on the first floor located underneath the circular stairs. New wiring and conduit will be provided for the existing Daktronics screens and shall be routed to the mechanical room in the first floor for programming, controls, and operation. The contractor is to replace and install both Daktronic screens on marquee, and install and provide the controller at the mechanical room on the 1st floor. The contractor will have general cleaning of the exterior tile, metal panels, flooring, stucco, brick cleaning repairs and repointing throughout all facades, and repair and rebuild existing canopies w/ replicated tile on the north facade. The contractor will remove existing adhesive, stone, and residue of an old neighboring building on the east facade near building G. The contractor will repair, sand and restore all exterior doors to the theatre and reinstall with new door hardware. The entrance wall will be insulated and the interior wall will be covered with gyp bd. In areas where tile, metal panels, or brick will need to be replaced, contractors shall replicate material to match existing material. refer to specifications and coordinate with the architect for information on replicating materials. The contractor will replace glass, lighting, keying, and hardware on existing glass displays at the entrance exterior. The metal frame will be cleaned and repaired as needed. The contractor shall take necessary precautions to maintain the integrity of the building structure and materials and will provide adequate bracing and protection throughout the areas that will undergo alterations and construction. Important: as roof repairs will be ongoing or have undergone, the contractor shall limit access to the roof unless necessary. The roof has been replaced and the warranty will become voided if damaged. Coordinate w/roof contractor prior to accessing the roof. The contractor will have site improvements on the north side of the building where the contractor will cut into the sidewalk along farragut st., 5' x 5' opening, dispose of concrete, and install a 25 gallon tree w/ a 5'x 5' metal grate cover. Refer to the construction documents and Project Summary for additional information and project scope. Construction contract time for the project is one hundred and sixty days (160) work days. All complete Bid Proposal in the hands of the designated official at the time set in this Notice to Bidders shall be considered. All Bids Proposal shall be accompanied by an acceptable Bid Deposit in an amout of not less than fice percent (5%) of the total Base Bid. Bid Deposit will be verified by Owner prior to bid certification. Bids without an acceptable Bid Deposit will NOT be considered. Refer to Section A-2 Information to Bidders for complete information. Hand-delivered Bid Proposals and Bid Guaranties must be original and must be sealed in an envelope plainly marked with the name of the project as shown above, and the name and addess of the Bidder. For Bidders electing to submit Bids and Bid Guaranties electronically via Cit-E-Bid, Bid Guaranties will be verified by Owner prior to bid certification and electronic copies of Bid Guaranties will not be returned to Bidders. Mailed bids (i.e. USPS, FedEx, UPS), telegraphic, or facsimile submittlas will not be allowed/considered. Further, on federally funded projects only, contractors must comply with the Federal Labor Standards Provision, Davis Bacon Act, Equal Opportunity Clause, Wage Determination and HUD and Urban Development Federal Requirements especially as it regards payrolls and basic records. Bidders are expressly to review Section C-3.10 of the General Conditions of the proposed Contract as to the causes which may lead to the disqualification of a bidder and/or the rejection of a bid proposal. Unless all bids are rejected, the Owner agrees to give Notice of Award of Contract to the bidder within ninety (90) days of the bid opening. Bidders are expected to inspect the site of the work and inform themselves regarding all local conditions. Bidders are advised to review the Key Points of Public Right-of-Way Ordinance on Legal Relations and Responsibilities to the Public Division C-7.15. The entire ordinance may be viewed at the website under Building Services Department. Deadline for questions shall be on Sepetember 12th, 2025 at 12:00pm.
