Town of Sheffield is seeking bids for roadway milling and in-place Bituminous Concrete. The two roadways total 4 miles, are 23' wide. Milling is approximately 45,000 sq. yds. The approximate tonnage of Bituminous Concrete is 6,825 for a 2" top course, including tack coat. The project is located on East Stahl Road and Hewins Street. The Town shall have the right to increase or decrease these amounts depending on road conditions. Bidders should familiarize themselves with sections of roads to be paved. Road to be paint marked to identify the section to be paved. Questions in this regard should be directed to David Ruot, Highway Superintendent, at (413) 229-7030. Bid prices shall include all labor, equipment, and material for an in place product. All work is to be completed November 1, 2025. Bid packages will contain information on how to attend the bid opening. Awarding Authority is the Select Board. Each general bid shall be accompanied by a security or bond in the amount of 5% (percent) of the bid price. The successful bidder must furnish a 100% performance bond and 100% payment bond. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of thirty days after the actual date of opening of the bids. The minority employee percentage rate to be applied to this project will not be less than 5% (percent) in each class. This contract will contain a price adjustment for hot mix asphalt mixtures. Price adjustments will be in accordance with MassDOT period price adjustments for Hot Mix Asphalt. The base prices, dated July 2025 are as follows: Liquid Asphalt - $635.00 per ton, Diesel - $2.924 per gallon, Gasoline - $2.449 per gallon, Portland Cement - $425.13 per ton. The price adjustment will be based on the variance from the Base Price to the Period Price at the time the work is completed. The price adjustment must be reflected on the invoice. The contractor must be pre-qualified by MassDOT. Only bidders who are pre-qualified will be able to receive the bid package. Only bidders who are pre-qualified will be able to receive Bid Package.
