Renovation of a military facility in Great Neck, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.

The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), under the Maritime Administration (MARAD), seeks a qualified contractor to replace the steam condensate return tank and pumps inside the mechanical room of Palmer Hall. The scope includes disconnecting and removing the existing duplex condensate tank and associated piping, replacing it with a contractor-supplied unit, and installing new steam traps, isolation valves, discharge check valves, and pipe insulation. The contractor must also replace the existing sump pump with a new two-pump system capable of handling high temperatures, install a compatible cover, and reconnect all branches. All components including fittings, pumps, valves, and insulation must be new. Leak testing is required for all installed systems. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor, materials, transportation, tools, equipment, and supervision. Work must comply with federal, state, and local codes, maintain safety standards, and minimize disruption to Academy operations. Daily cleanup and securing of work areas are required. Any damage to existing facilities must be repaired or replaced at no cost to the government. Excess materials and debris must be disposed of per local and state ordinances. Vehicles are prohibited on sidewalks and grass. Communication with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) is mandatory, including advance notice of any service disruptions. All work must adhere to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (36 CFR part 68) and the Standards for Rehabilitation (36 CFR 67.7). A site visit will be scheduled to inspect existing conditions prior to work commencement. The contractor must provide a signed one-year warranty for materials and labor, and manufacturer warranties for equipment.
