DESCRIPTION: Economy Garage Lightning Replacement (SBI) at Midway International Airport DEPARTMENT: Chicago Department of Aviation TYPE: Aviation Construction QUESTION DUE DATE: September 22, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Bid Bond: Bids requiring a bid deposit must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, provided by a surety company authorized to do business in the United States, and made payable to the City of Chicago. A scanned copy of the bid bond must be attached to the online bid submission, with the original bond to be received by DPS within 3 business days of the bid opening. This is required of all bidders, not just the apparent low bidder. Any late Bids received after announced date and time, for the opening of Bids, will not be accepted. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. General Description of the Work: The Work consists of furnishing all means, methods, labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation and services for performing the Electrical Work as shown on the Drawings and as described in the Technical Specifications, including all appurtenant work and accessories, to the complete satisfaction of, approval and acceptance by the City. This includes, but is not limited to the following: The purpose of this project is to address identified anomalies in the electrical distribution system and replace all metal halide lighting fixtures throughout the Midway Airport Economy Parking Garage with LED fixtures. This project will replace the existing 2,770 pendant-mounted metal halide luminaires lighting the interior six floors of the Midway Airport Economy Parking Garage with LED based luminaires. Additionally, 60 pole mounted head fixtures shall be replaced with LED models on the existing light poles. It shall be noted that 28 of the 32 existing light poles on the 7th floor have twin fixtures and 4 light poles have single fixtures. The 32 existing single head obstruction lights on the top of light poles will also be replaced with LED models, and 8 additional obstruction lights will be added, one each on the four corners of the two elevator towers on the south side of the building where there are none currently. All branch circuit wiring shall be re-terminated in the new fixtures. No modifications or normal branch circuit wiring required. The General Contractor shall balance phases on all panels identified. The General Contractor shall investigate the extent of existing combined neutrals on existing branch circuit wiring to panels identified and repull dedicated neutrals as required. The stated quantities are approximate. This description of work is intended to be general in nature and is neither a complete description nor a limitation on the Work to be performed. Contractor must perform all Work described in the Contract Documents or reasonably inferable as necessary to produce the results specified therein, except to the extentspecifically indicated in the Contract Documents to be the responsibility of others.
