Site work and paving for a civil project in Virden, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

Bids are invited upon the several items and quantities of work as follows: Storm drainage improvements including intake structure, 4,568 feet of 48" storm sewer pipe (RCP, CPE, PCPE), 7 each 6' dia. manholes, 148 square yards rip rap, erosion control, 34 square yards HMA pavement, 41 cubic yards trench backfill and other related work. SUMMARY A. This section includes the location of the work, a general description of the work to be performed, what if any work will be done by others, the work sequence, construction areas, owner occupancy, partial owner occupancy, and substantial completion. 1.02 LOCATION OF WORK A. All of the Work of the Contract is located in easements, rights-of-way or on property owned by the Owner as shown on the drawings herein. 1.03 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED A. The Contractorshall furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentalsrequired and construct the proposed in its entirety as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. B. The major items of Work include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following: 1. Grading and shaping ditches. 2. Construction of storm sewer system including inlets, manholes, pipes, etc. 3. Restoration of storm sewer trenches including driveways, streets, seeding, etc All questions of a technical nature regarding the project will only be answered in writing by Addendum. Any questions may be submitted by telephone or in writing to William Sleeman, P.E., wsleeman@bentoneng.com, 217.245.4146,or at the Pre-Bid Meeting. Questions should be submitted to the Engineer no later than seven (7) days prior to the bid date. Question Deadline 09/25/2025 A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of City of Virden, negotiable U.S. Government bonds (at par value) or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. This project is funded in whole or in part with grant funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Attention is called to the fact that 1) not less than the Federal prevailing wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project; 2) The work to be performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of Section 3, 24 CFR Part 75; and 3) The Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Bidders must not be excluded from participating in any federal assistance program [24 CFR 85, Subpart C 85.35; 2 CFR 200.214]. The City of Virden reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.
