A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** Solicitations: Service, Repair, and Installation of Gymnasium Equipment The Board of Education reserves the right, in accordance with applicable law, to reject any or all proposals and waive non-material irregularities in a proposal. NO BID SURETY/BOND OR PERFORMANCE BOND REQUIRED. ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING VIA THE ELECTRONIC BIDDING PLATFORM PRIOR TO 2:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 SECTION C - SPECIFICATIONS C1.1 The intent of this solicitation is to provide service, repair, and installation of gymnasium equipment for Newark Board of Education (NBOE, District) properties. C1.2 The submission of a bid will be construed to mean that the Bidder is fully informed as to the extent and character of the services, supplies, materials or equipment required and a representation that the Bidder can furnish the supplies, materials or equipment satisfactorily in complete compliance with the specifications. C1.3 The conditions and requirements are intended to be open and nonrestrictive and are to serve as standards for the purpose of obtaining adequate participation of interested vendors; uniformity in the submission of bids, and selection of the most responsible vendors. All items bid shall either meet or exceed the following specifications and industry standards. C2 SCOPE OF WORK C2.1 Contractor shall furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to service, repair and install gymnasium equipment at various District schools. This work shall include but not limited to: Bleachers (indoor and outdoor) Wall Mounting Basketball Backboards and Poles Padding Folding Doors Hoist/Pulleys Ropes Rings Score Boards Remote Switches C2.2 Contractor shall be responsible for inspection of equipment as outlined by the Director of Custodial Services prior to school opening and submitting a report detailing recommendation for repair work to be performed.All materials and finishes are to match the existing or adjacent assemblies. C2.4 Contractor shall remove old material and debris, which may accumulate, as soon as work is completed. C2.5 Contractor shall be responsible for any work not described, but necessary to effectively complete repairs. C2.6 The successful bidder shall notify the Director of Custodial Services or designee, in writing, of any conditions which exist that are safety hazards. C2.7 Replacement parts shall be purchased by the contractor and billed to the Newark Board of Education at the contractor's cost plus (+) a mark-up percentage (%) as submitted in the contractor's bid proposal.BLEACHERS C3.1 Repairs required include but are not limited to the following: fixing broken/missing hinge knees and busing belt assemblies, repair/replace lower guide stops on roller shoes, repair wheels, rollers, or coaster, brake handle adjustments, adjustment/replacement of front wheels, adjustment/replacement of side rails, repair/replace loose or broken legs or brackets in wall anchorage, tightening/replacing of nuts and bolts, greasing of bearing parts for all sections, inspection of wall/floor mounts and re-securing if necessary, repair/replacement supports, and weld of any broken welds, resetting off track seats and replacement of missing seat screws. BASKETBALL BACKBOARDSRepairs required include but are not limited to: repair of replacement of rims, repair of metal, glass, plastic and wood backboards, repair of rims, replacement of cranks, replacement of cables, inspection and tightening of all connections, installation of protective padding, and installation of safety bars. C5 GYMNASIUM FOLDING DOORS C5.1 Repairs required include but are not limited to the following: guide moldings, repair/replacement of motor and remote switches, remove, degrease, and reinstall chain, inspect/repair door guides, repair floor track, repair/replace floor seals, repair extend limit and stack limit, repair/replace pendant bolts, replacement of overhead cables, replacement of headers, repair/replacement of miscellaneous hardware and demonstration of door operation to personnel.
