Box 2128, Dothan, AL 36302 and to be given consideration must be received at least five (5) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of bids Scope of Work: The work shall consist of placing one or more courses of hot bituminous plant mix overlay pavement. The hot bituminous plant mix for thin overlay shall be (approximately 1 compacted thickness (average) at 110 lbs. per square yard) in reasonably close conformance with the typical cross section. The hot bituminous plant mix for thick overlay on old pavement shall be (approximately 1-1/2 compacted thickness (average) at 165 lbs. per square yard) or (approximately 2 compacted thickness (average) at 220 lbs. per square yard) in reasonably close conformance with the typical cross section. Streets that will require more than a 2 overlay shall be done in separate lifts (lift thickness decided by the City of Dothan). Additional work covered by this specification shall consist of using a herbicide to kill existing plant growth, milling of existing asphalt where needed, cleaning old pavement surface, applying tack coat and placing hot bituminous plant mix leveling course where needed. In-place density testing of new pavement is required. The work will also include restoring the street crown, machine grading existing shoulders, removing and installing speed humps, grassing (seeding), correcting structural distressed areas, and installing pipe (underdrain) as directed, as well as resetting (raise or lower) manhole covers and water and gas valve boxes to the new top of asphalt. Where existing lawns and grassed areas are disturbed during installation of underdrain or the construction of a curbed island, contractor shall re-grass these areas to original or better condition. Traffic control markings including temporary and permanent marking are also included.
