Site work and paving for a road / highway in Fairfax, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Improve Blenheim Boulevard between Layton Hall Drive and Ridge Avenue to include sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, a two-way cycle track on the north side, and upgraded bus stops and shelters. The City of Fairfax is accepting bids for the construction of the Blenheim Boulevard Multimodal Improvements Project (UPC 107013). The purpose of this project is to improve Blenheim Boulevard between Layton Hall Drive and Ridge Avenue to include sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, a twoway cycle track on the north side, and upgraded bus stops and shelters throughout the project area. The roadway will be modified to provide a consistent 2-lane typical section throughout the corridor, with right- and left-turn lanes at select locations and a roundabout at the intersection of Blenheim Boulevard and Ridge Avenue. The project scope includes, but is not limited to the following Work as specified in the City of Fairfax Public Facilities Manual and/or VDOT Standards/Specifications as applicable: • Removal and demolition of existing concrete curb and gutter, fences, concrete sidewalk, drainage structures, storm pipe, and existing pavement; • Site clearing, preparation, grading, and other miscellaneous demolition; • Sidewalk, shared-use path, and curb-and-gutter construction, including subgrade, subbase, and hydraulic cement concrete placement; • Asphalt pavement placement, including subgrade, subbase, and asphalt concrete layers; • Pedestrian accommodations including installation of PROWAG/ADA-compliant ramps, handrail, and crosswalks; • Storm drainage improvement including installation of storm sewer pipes, underdrain, standard VDOT drainage structures, and non-standard storm water management water quality structures; • Retaining wall construction; • Waterline construction; • Utility duct bank construction; • Permanent signage and pavement markings; • Street landscaping and plantings; • Installation of conduits, concrete foundations, and street lighting; • Traffic signal modification at Layton Hall Drive; • All measures required for erosion & sediment control and maintenance oftraffic; • Materials testing in accordance with the current VDOT Inspection Manual; and • Other items necessary for completion of the work per contract documents.
