VDOT Title: Smart24 Bus 501-Construct Roundabout at Vassar Street - 123203 Description FROM: 0.025 MILE SOUTH OF VASSAR STREET TO: 0.025 MILE NORTH OF VASSAR STREET The city is working with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection. The roundabout would be located a short distance from the Rivermont Terrace intersection with Rivermont Avenue. The project will include a 15-foot roundabout, two crosswalks and additional sidewalks. The project is included in the State's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of September 18, 2025, project construction expected to start in February 2028 with completion expected by winter 2028. VDOT is handling the project. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
