The Maryland Mesonet is a high-resolution network of state-of-the-art automated weather stations, developed through a partnership between the University of Maryland (UMD) and the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM). Its core mission is to provide real-time environmental monitoring by collecting minute-byminute data on temperature, wind, humidity, pressure, soil moisture, solar radiation, and precipitation. February 2026 Contract Award MES is issuing this solicitation for the purpose of securing a contractor capable of performing the work that is required before a weather station can be erected. The contractor shall be responsible for excavation, trenching and laying conduit, concrete, placing embeds (provided) h-frame construction, and chain-link fencing. The concrete blocks will serve as the foundation of a 33' aluminum truss, a rain gauge, and a solar panel.
