The Maryland Mesonet is a high-resolution network of state-of-the-art automated weather stations, developed through a partnership between the University of Maryland (UMD) and the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM). Its core mission is to provide real-time environmental monitoring by collecting minute-byminute data on temperature, wind, humidity, pressure, soil moisture, solar radiation, and precipitation. February 2026 Contract Award MES is issuing this solicitation for the purpose of securing a contractor capable of performing the work that is required before a weather station can be erected. The contractor shall be responsible for excavation, trenching and laying conduit, concrete, placing embeds (provided) h-frame construction, and chain-link fencing. The concrete blocks will serve as the foundation of a 33' aluminum truss, a rain gauge, and a solar panel. All prospective Offerors are encouraged to attend in order to facilitate better preparation of their Proposals. Question Deadline 09/23/2025 at 1:00 PM ET Questions to the Procurement Officer shall be accepted though MES Procurement Portal (Bonfire) in a timely manner prior to the Proposal due date. Questions are requested to be submitted at least ten (10) days prior to the Proposal due date. MES, based on the availability of time to research and communicate an answer, and in its sole discretion, shall decide whether an answer can be given before the Proposal due date.
