This project is part of the Fuqua Extension Transmission Line (FETL), a multiyear project encompassing the Hobby Airport area (east) to SH-288 (west), which will increase water system pressure, provide a second water source, and add surface water to the project area. The extension will carry water produced by the planned expansion of the Citys Southeast Water Purification Plant (SEWPP). The FETL and SEWPP are needed to meet the Regions projected 2060 water demand, which was estimated in the Water for Texas 2012 State Water Plan. The City of Houston is seeking bids from qualified vendors for the installation of a 48-inch water line extending from SH 288 to Cullen Boulevard along Orem Drive.
