Snow removal and sanding work is normally carried out between 1 October and 30 April, or according to weather conditions, which vary from season to season. Sand removal work is carried out after the snow has melted, i.e. before 15 May. All bids must be accompanied by a bid bond representing 10% of the total bid amount excluding all applicable taxes, in the form of a certified cheque, postal order, irrevocable letter of guarantee or bid bond issued by a financial institution that is an insurer holding a licence issued in accordance with the Insurance Act (R.S.Q., c. A-32) authorising it to engage in surety insurance, a trust company holding a licence issued under the Trust and Savings Companies Act (L.R.Q., c. S-29.01), a financial services cooperative governed by the Act respecting financial services cooperatives (R.S.Q., c. C-67.3) or a bank within the meaning of the Bank Act (S.C., 1991, c. 46), failing which the bid will be automatically rejected.
