Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Berkeley, Illinois. Working plans call for site work for a fire / police facility; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
**As of October 3, 2025, bids received were rejected as they were over the budget. Project will be rebid but no definite date yet.** The Village of Berkeley ("Village") is accepting proposals for Fire Department Site Improvements. Question Deadline 09/15/2025 at 3:00 PM CT All questions must be submitted in writing to Joe Wagner, jwagner@berkeley.il.us, to be answered in writing and publicly shared on the Village of Berkeley's website online. Review of proposals and acceptance or rejection of proposals shall be governed by the terms of the Request for Proposals. The Work consists of the following: o Site Improvements to the Fire Department driveway, mechanical shed and public right of-way street improvements o Building addition construction includes a mechanical shed on cast-in-place concrete foundations and slab. o Building addition exterior consists of preformed prefinished metal wall panels and low-slope membrane roofing. o The Work also includes, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work. o Building addition interior finishing and related construction includes partitions, drywall ceiling and doors. o Site construction includes parking areas, driveway, sidewalks and landscape improvements around the facility. Perform and complete all 'Excavation related work as required by and in accordance with the condition of contract. The Scope of Work includes: furnishing all supervision, insurance, fees, permits bonds, labor, material, equipment, tools, utilities, facilities, and services necessary, inherent or incidental to perform the installation of the work as summarized below and in accordance with the drawings, specifications, schedules and other Contract Documents. The specification and drawings are to govern the extent of the work required for this bid package. The work items are intended for clarification and convenience only and are not intended to limit any portion of the scope of this bid package. The scope of work shall include the following list of work items but will not necessarily be limited to: Excavation: Remove existing concrete driveway, sidewalks in the construction area. Dispose of debris off site. Provide all mass excavating and grading work as indicated on the drawings and in project specifications. Provide installation and maintenance of adequate signs, traffic control devices and warning devices to inform and protect the public during all phases of delivery and construction activity. Immediately replace any barricade or restraint damaged or removed. Provide flagmen at all times when equipment is entering and exiting construction site. Provide positive site drainage at the conclusion of each day. Include dewatering, ditching, pumping or any other method acceptable. Provide cleaning of roads and parking lots of material that is generated from the earthwork at the close of each day of work or more frequently as may be required. The Owner's Survey, if necessary, will provide a one time layout for elevations and building corners if necessary. The cost to replace any layout staking for earthwork activity is the responsibility of the Contractor Furnish, install and maintain construction site erosion control including a site fence system if necessary. Site Clearing and Cleaning: Remove all trees, brush, and stumps etc. Dispose of debris off site. Strip all topsoil and stockpile on site for re-spreading in landscaped areas as required by Owner. (Location to be determined with owner) Provide all mass excavation and grading to +/- 1"of proposed sub-grade elevations for building concrete slab, thickened edges, floor depressions, lot, concrete drives, sidewalks, curbs and aprons. Provide excavation for shed footing and foundations. Furnish and place compacted granular backfill at building footings and foundation walls. Furnish and place compacted granular sub-base under all concrete floor slabs (with Geo Fabric Grid,) concrete sidewalks, curbs and concrete aprons. Re-spread and grade topsoil in all landscaped areas to finish grade elevations. Provide backfilling of curbs, sidewalks, aprons, and landscaped areas to finish grade elevations. Remove and dispose of all excess earth spoils for a balanced earthwork site. Remove and dispose of excess earth spoils generated from utility and plumbing work trenches. Final shape and install the gravel sub-base below all paved surfaces.
