Patricia Innocenti, CPPO Patricia.innocenti@fairfaxva.gov 703-385-7875 Construction of George T. Snyder Trail (GTS Trail) from Rte. 123 (Chain Bridge Road) to US 50 (Fairfax Blvd.) (UPC112816). The GTS Trail will run along the southern side of Accotink Creek and east/west between Rte. 123 and US 50 at Draper Drive. GTS Trail is federally funded through the I-66 Outside the Beltway Concessionaire and has been developed in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) policies and procedures, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidelines, and VDOT's Local Assistance Program (LAP). GTS trail will fill in a critical gap in the existing regional trail network which includes the I-66 Trail, Wilcoxon Trail, Pickett Road Trail (which connects to the Vienna Metrorail Station) and the Cross County Connector Trail (a 40-mile trail that runs throughout Fairfax County). To the west, the GTS Trail will connect to VDOT's recently constructed shared use path along Rte. 123 and I-66. To the east, the GTS Trail will end just east of Accotink Creek. A separate project will extend the trail to Wilcoxon Trail, including a crossing at US 50 & Draper Drive. The scope of work includes, but not limited to, construction of: o Asphalt shared use path (full depth) on an independent alignment/location; o Prefabricated steel pedestrian bridges; o Concrete deck boardwalks; o Gravity retaining wall; o Block retaining walls; o Drainage facilities including open channels, culverts/pipes, underdrains, headwalls, inlets; o Storm Water Management (SWM) BMP facilities; o Roadway, intersection, and sidewalk modifications; ADA-compliant curb ramps, curb & gutter; o Excavation, embankment, grading, and pavement removal; o Permanent Signing and pavement marking; o Fencing/handrailing; o Hardscape paving features; o Tree and shrub planting; seeding and mulching; o Park amenities; o Site clearing, Tree removal, and tree protection measures; o Erosion and sediment control (ESC) measures; o Maintenance of traffic; o Water utility relocation; o Installation of conduit and concrete foundations for future street lighting JD185202
