REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR Excavation and Roof System Replacement Project(Bids & Proposals) The awarded contractor will provide design, engineering, labor, materials, and equipment to complete the following work elements: 1. Excavation and Haul-Out Excavate and dispose of all soil materials currently overlaying the subterranean roof membrane system above the library and adjacent structures. Protect all existing underground utilities and structural elements during excavation. All excavated materials to be lawfully removed and disposed of offsite. 2. Drainage and Water Management Install a complete drainage system including: Drain tile system around the affected areas. Swale system designed to redirect hillside surface water away from the building footprint. Drainage system must comply with current civil engineering standards and be reviewed/approved by the project engineer. 3. Roof System Replacement Full removal of existing roofing membrane, insulation, and flashing. Installation of new EPDM roofing membrane system with all required insulation layers. Install new metal flashing and roof edges compliant with industry standards and manufacturer's specifications. 4. Interior Repair and Restoration Restore and repair all interior ceiling damage and aesthetic issues caused by previous water infiltration. Interior repairs must meet ADA and Michigan Building Code standards. 5. Site Restoration Regrade and restore the hillside with: Proper soil backfill and compaction. Seeding and planting of grass to restore vegetation cover. Include erosion control measures compliant with Michigan EGLE (Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy) requirements. 6. Safety Enhancements Install a vehicular guardrail system around the affected area to prevent unauthorized vehicle access atop the new roof area. Note: The replacement roof membrane will NOT be covered with soil. Guardrail must meet MDOT safety and material standards. 7. Optional Add Alternate Work Replacement of two existing library windows with rusted casings due to water infiltration. Include removal and disposal of existing units.
