Repair Utility Tunnel & Upgrade Boiler PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project provides for repairs of steam tunnels at Eastern Illinois University's main campus in Charleston, IL. Structural elements of concrete and corrugated metal pipe tunnels will be repaired or replaced, as well as supports for piping and other utilities. Steam piping will be replaced and resized to accommodate connection of the Renewable Energy Center's two main boilers to serve the main campus after future removal of the primary boilers in the Boiler Plant. The project will include installation of directburied steam piping, condensate return, and associated expansion loops, vaults, traps, and insulation to connect the Renewable Energy Center boilers to the main Campus loop.
