Site work for a fire / police facility in Canyon, Texas. Working plans call for site work for a 53,700-square-foot fire / police facility.
As of 10/30/2025, owner has determined the shortlisted CMAR. The anticipated award date is on 11/18 or December 2, 2025. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, and to waive any informalities in the submission. Renovations to Police Department o In 2024 the City purchased the building located at 1401 4th Avenue. In December 2024, the police department offices and operations were transferred from City Hall to this new facility. These renovations will better facilitate the police department operation and secure the facilities to serve as the police department headquarters if/when additional police stations should be needed in the City. o Approximately 19,000 SF, o Estimated Cost - $4,300,000, o Construction of various offices and spaces, refurbishment of finishes throughout, and exterior upgrades. ii. Construction of Animal Shelter o The City does not currently have permanent accommodations to care for animals collected by animal control. This new facility should meet the current sheltering needs of the City, with a focus on quality of life, while fostering a safe and positive environment for adoption candidates. o Approximately 2,000 SF, o Estimated Cost - $600,000, o Construction of metal facility with 20 kennels, office space, storage areas, fence, animal exercise area, and associated parking lot. iii. Construction and Renovation to Fire Station #1 o The current fire department located at City Hall does not have adequate amenities to house fire fighters 24/7. The City's fire fighter team plans to transition to a 24/7 response schedule by the end of 2025, and these renovations will provide the accommodations these fire fighters need, while complying with current fire department facility regulations. o Approximately 17,700 SF, o Estimated Cost - $4,200,000, o Construction of new second floor living space, significant renovation and repurposing of space throughout the building. iv. Construction of Training Facility o Building space at Fire Station #1 that is currently used for training classes and 1 truck bay will be repurposed for living space during the renovations. A training classroom and truck bays will need to be built at the training field located at 200 1st Avenue so as to not interrupt the current level of services. o Approximately 6,250 SF, o Estimated Cost - $1,700,000, o Construction of metal facility with 2,500 squae feet of classroom, 3,750 square feet of truck bays, and associated parking lot.Construction of Burn House o This burn house will be located at the training field at 200 1st Avenue and is expected to be used in fire training for the next 20 years. o Approximately 1,850 SF, o Estimated Cost - $600,000, vi. Construction of Physical Training Facility and Parking Lot o The City is required to provide space and equipment for physical training for fire fighters to use during their shift. Emergency response equipment that will need to be moved in relation to the Fire Station #1 renovations will also impact the current physical training space. This new facility will accommodate the equipment moves while updating the training space. o Approximately 1,500 SF, o Estimated Cost - $750,000, o Construction metal facility and associated parking lot. vii. Renovations of Fire Command Staff Offices o Building space at Fire Station #1 that is currently used for fire command staff offices will be repurposed for living space during the renovations. These offices will be moved to the space at City Hall that is currently occupied by the Planning & Development department. o Approximately 1,700 SF, o Estimated Cost - $600,000. viii. Renovations to City Hall o As fire commend offices are being moved to the space at City Hall currently occupied by the Planning & Development department, Planning & Development offices will move the space at City Hall that was formerly the Police Department, but is currently vacant. The Public Works offices that are currently located in the Business Offices at City Hall, will also be moved to former Police Department space. o Approximately 3,700 SF, o Estimated Cost - $250,000, o Renovations and refurbishment of existing office space. ix. Other Project Elements Under Consideration o Renovation of two restrooms, o Renovation of City Hall elevator
