Site work, paving and new construction of a conference / convention center in West Des Moines, Iowa. Design plans call for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot, 3,000-seat, 500-space conference / convention center; for site work for a conference / convention center; and for paving for a conference / convention center.
Plans call to construct an events center at the community RecPlex, a successful indoor sports complex. The new 100,000-square-foot enclosed facility will include sufficient spectator seating for large-scale events and allow for the conversion of ice arenas into multipurpose configurations. The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Board approved award that will assist $267 million in new capital investment for the state. These projects are. The board also approved assistance for startups in City of West Des Moines received a Destination Iowa grant and received a Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant. IEDA recently approved assistance from Iowa's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Innovation Fund for a startup in Iowa City. As of October 17, 2025, information regarding firm construction and completion timelines have not been released.
