This project will consist of breaking ice on the channel so as to help prevent flooding. Proposals must include proof of insurance. Awardee represents that at all times during the term of this contract, awardee will have an ice breaker boat capable of performing the services required. Awardee shall perform ice breaking services within twenty-four (24) hours of a request by the Mayor or Director of Public Service for the City of Vermilion to do so unless it is determined by awardee that hazardous conditions are existent endangering the safety of the crews manning the ice breaker boat(s). Services will be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations. Without limiting the foregoing, at all times icebreaking services are being performed, the icebreaker boat shall be followed by a safety boat. This contract will begin on January 1, 2026, and shall terminate February 28, 2026. The City of Vermilion reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or parts thereof, to waive any informalities and to accept the proposal it deems most favorable to the City of Vermilion.
