The Village of Burr Ridge is located approximately 19 miles southwest of downtown Chicago at the intersection of the Tri-State Tollway and the Stevenson Expressway. The Village lies within southeastern DuPage County and southwestern Cook County. Unincorporated areas border the Village to the south and west, while the incorporated areas which border the Village include Willow Springs, Hodgkins, Countryside, Indian Head Park, Western Springs, Hinsdale, and Willowbrook. The area now known as Burr Ridge was once the home of the Sioux, Pottawattamie, Ottawa, and Chippewa Native Americans. Up until the early 1950s, the area was sparsely settled, and large tracts of land were devoted to farming. The Village was incorporated in 1956 as the Village of Harvester. The name of the Village was changed to Burr Ridge in 1962, after an annexation that included land with a stand of Burr Oak trees. The Village has grown from approximately 1 square mile in area as the Village of Harvester to its current area of approximately 7.5 square miles. The Village has also experienced significant population growth over the past 70 years. With less than 300 residents at the time of incorporation, 2020 U.S. Census data indicated the population was 11,192. Burr Ridge is well known for its luxury homes and quiet residential subdivisions. The 1999 Comprehensive Plan identified the community vision as follows: Burr Ridge is a high quality suburban community with low density neighborhoods characterized by distinctive homes in natural wooded settings. Our Village accommodates residents who seek a sense of privacy in a tranquil environment. We desire to enhance the Village's physical beauty, keeping Burr Ridge a very special place. Upscale local shopping, dining, office and industrial parks are blended into this natural setting, attracting those who become both residents and valued members of the business community. Keeping in mind the Village's paramount goal of protecting its rural character and natural setting, the Village is committed to maintaining and enhancing its business base. All questions will be compiled into one document with answers issued in the form of an Addendum to be distributed to all potential proposers on record. This Addendum will be issued by noon CST on October 20, 2025. The Community Development Director is the Village's designated project manager for the consultant selection process as well as throughout the update process. The Village will use a mutually agreed upon contract for the requested services.
