Site work and new construction of a playground / park / athletic field in Copiague, New York. Working plans call for the construction of a one-story above grade playground / park / athletic field.
Sealed proposals are requested for the construction of a Memorial Garden at Tanner Park, Copiague, New York. Bids must be submitted intact and received no later than 10:00 AM on the date specified. Each proposal must include a Certified Check or Bid Bond for five percent (5%) of the total bid comparison price. An apprenticeship program approved by the NYS Department of Labor is required for all projects in excess of $250,000. This applies to all prime contracts and their respective sub-contracts for all trades necessary to complete the work. Failure to comply with this requirement may be cause for bid rejection. Minority and women-owned businesses are encouraged to participate. All questions regarding these bid specifications must be submitted in writing to Kathy Lynch via email at klynch@townofbabylonny.gov Scope of Work - Lump Sum Base Bid Within these contract documents, the Contractor will be responsible for constructing a Memorial Garden within the area designated by the Town of Babylon, as shown on the construction plans. The Contractor will construct an 'extension' of the waterfront boardwalk leading to a circular memorial garden surrounded by plantings. At the head of the memorial garden, within the circular boardwalk deck area, there will be the construction of a block seating wall, set under a custom fabricated pergola shade structure allowing for park users to enter the memorial gardens, sit, and reflect on the view of the waterfront, garden, and other features. The boardwalk decking will be surrounded by plantings both within the inner circle and exterior edges of the boardwalk. On the rear of the seating area, there will be erected feature(s) to hold multiple independent 'locks', that park users may purchase from a specified lock vendor to then secure to the structure as a symbol oftheir presence at the memorial. A secondary concrete access will be constructed from the parking area, to allow for users to access the Memorial Garden from an alternate location. The construction of this memorial includes stripping of the existing topsoil and grass to accommodate a concrete footing and block seating wall, the installation oftimber piles, a pressure treated timber decking substructure, and installation of finished composite IPE wood decking, for park users to access the gardens area. Within the limits ofthe boardwalk decking, the Contractor will be install a concrete slab footing to accommodate the construction of a block seating walk and overhead custom fabricated pergola. Upon the completion of the construction of the decking, seating area, and overhead structure, the Contractor will be installing a vast array of plants; shrubs, trees, grasses, floweringlandscape to add to the aesthetics ofthe memorial garden. A footing for a sculpture, as well as additional signage will be installed to supplement the garden with information to provide to the park users about the memorial garden. The awarded Contractor will be required to prepare and provide a schedule of values, in advance ofthe preconstruction meeting, identifying costs associated with the scope ofwork by way of an itemized breakdown for each task. The schedule of values will be used to track percentage of work completed and justification for claim payments. The Contractor will be allotted a contact duration of 120 days as specified in this proposal to substantial complete all construction, plantings, and restoration, for the Town to reopen the park to its local users.
