Simon Fraser University ("SFU") is located on British Columbia's west coast, and boasts three distinctive campuses, Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey. SFU has matured into one of the world's leading teaching and research universities with more than 26,000 students, 2,700 faculty and staff, and 200,000 alumni in 145+ countries. The Burnaby Campus on Burnaby Mountain covers an area of 195 hectares. The campus landscape is a blend of manicured lawns, sports fields, planted areas, and natural spaces totaling approximately 32.2 hectares within a ring road on the edge of forested park land. SFU maintains a dedicated landscaping compound on campus that may be used by the successful proponent. Given the university's commitment to sustainability and minimizing environmental impacts, the use of gas-free equipment is strongly encouraged--particularly near buildings, air intakes, and sensitive areas such as athletic fields, planted roof decks, and high-use pedestrian zones. This Request for Proposals ("RFP") is an invitation by Simon Fraser University ("SFU") to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the provision of landscaping services at SFU Burnaby Campus, as further described in Part 2 - The Deliverables (the "Deliverables"). The selected proponent will be requested to enter into negotiations for an agreement with SFU for the provision of the Deliverables based on the term sheet attached as Appendix A to the RFP. It is SFU's intention to enter into an agreement based on the term sheet attached as Appendix A to the RFP with only one (1) legal entity. The initial term of the agreement is to be for a period of two (2) years, with an option in favour of SFU to extend the agreement on the same terms and conditions, for up to two (2) additional extension terms of up to two (2) years each.
