9.79 mi of hot mix asphalt overlay and wedging, aggregate shoulders, guardrail and pavement markings on County Road 511 from US-2 to south of the Holquist Gravel Pit, Delta County. This is a Local Agency project. 0% Dbe Participation Required Net classification required for this project is 1898 Cb Completion Date:9/11/2026 Control Sec Job No Federal No STL 21000 224784A 25A0746 MI DOT - 2511 026 - Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay and Wedging, Aggregate Shoulders, Guardrail and Pavement Markings on County Road 511 This work shall be done in accordance with the requirements of section 501 of the Michigan Department of Transportation 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction and as herein specified. This work consists of complying with the Department's construction management processes. The Department will manage this contract using the AASHTOWare Project Construction Materials (APCM) software. Ensure all change orders are approved using APCM. No paper documents, faxes, or other methods/media are permitted for change order approvals except as allowed by this special provision or specifically approved by the Engineer. This work consists of meeting MDOT's construction document management (CDM) system requirements. Submit all project documentation for this contract in electronic format and place it in MDOT's CDM system, unless otherwise noted in this special provision. No paper documents, in printed format (faxes, letters, etc.) are permitted except as allowed by this special provision or specifically approved by the Engineer. The Contractor is responsible for keeping all information in the CDM system up to date throughout the execution of the contract. This work consists of the required use of a prevailing wage and labor compliance (PWLC) system for all prevailing wage documentation as directed by the Engineer. Input all required certified payroll documentation into the PWLC system (LCPtracker) and update this documentation throughout the execution of the contract. Certified payroll information is to be submitted in the PWLC system per the time requirements in the 20SP-107D - Labor Compliance. This work consists of the Contractor taking samples of the asphalt binder and delivering the samples to the Engineer prior to incorporation into the hot mix asphalt mixture. This work consists of furnishing and delivering a tangent MASH, Test Level 3 (TL-3) compliant guardrail approach terminal (Type 2M) to the job site; submitting detailed drawings and installation manuals for the selected terminal(s) to the Engineer; and installing the device(s) as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. Complete this work in accordance with manufacturer's details and specifications, and this special provision. Machine Grading: Prior to the start ofthis project the Delta County Road Commission will be performing HMA base crushing and shaping from Sta. 251+06 to Sta. 335+06 and from Sta. 438+06 to Sta. 446+56. That work is not part of this contract. The Contractor will be responsible for fine grading these areas prior to paving. Fine grading will be paid at the unit price per Sta. for "Machine Grading". HMA Paving (2 courses): HMA Leveling and HMA Top Course (Sta. 251+06+00 to Sta. 335+06 and from Sta. 438+06 to Sta. 446+56) will be paid at the unit price per ton of "HMA 4EL". HMA Leveling and Top Course will be applied according to the typical sections at a rate of 165 Lbs./Syd for each course. HMA Overlay: HMA overlay will be paid at the unit price per ton of "HMA, 4EL". HMA overlay will be applied according to the typical sections at a rate of 165 Lbs./Syd. HMA wedging areas will be full width in miscellaneous locations up to plan quantity as directed by the engineer (approx, from Sta. 179+00 to Sta. 204+00, Sta. 217+00 to Sta. 224+00, Sta. 335+00 to Sta. 352+00, Sta. 364+00 to Sta. 380+00, Sta. 399+00 to Sta. 410+00, and Sta. 479+00 to Sta. 517+00). The estimated quantity for "HMA 4EL", includes 1,350 tons of wedging. HMA wedging will be paid at the unit price per ton of "HMA, 4EL". The wedging, paving, and overlay project will begin on W.5 Road (CR-511) at a joint from a previous project at US Hwy. 2 (POB Sta. 0+00). The project continues 9.79 miles southeast to a joint from a previous project south of the Holquist Pit (POE Sta. 517+06). Cold Mill tapered Butt joints to match existing pavement at the POB and POE of the project. Payment for this will be included in the item "HMA, 4EL". The project includes HMA Paving (2 courses), HMA wedging, HMA overlay, aggregate shoulders, pavement markings, and traffic control. Clean pavement in accordance with the Standard Specifications prior to placing asphalt bond coat and HMA. Payment for this will be included in the item "HMA, 4EL". Guardrail Removal and Replacement: Replace guardrail and endings as noted on the included Guardrail Sheet. All guardrail improvements shall be done according to section 807 of the 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction as well as Standard Plans and Special Provisions. Shouldering: Shouldering will be paid for at the unit price per ton of "Shldr, Cl II". Place and compact "Shldr, Cl II" from the POB to the POE outside of the paved surface to match new HMA surface elevations. Construct shoulders in accordance with the typical sections. Approaches: Cold Mill Butt Joints at existing HMA intersections and driveway approaches in accordance with the approach details. This work will be measured by the square yard and paid at the unit price for "Cold Milling HMA Surface". HMA joints will be tapered to match existing pavement at all paved intersection and driveway approaches. Approach surfacing will be paid for by the ton at the unit price for "HMA Approach". Place and compact aggregate in existing gravel intersections and driveways to match new HMA surface elevations. This work will be paid at the unit price per ton for "Approach, Cl II". The construction, installation, treating and reconditioning of pipelines transporting gas vapors within cities, towns, subdivisions, suburban areas, or within private property boundaries, up to and including private meter settings of private industrial, governmental or other premises, more commonly referred to as ""distribution work,"" starting from the first metering station, connection, similar or related facility, of the main or cross country pipeline and including duct installation. Tunnel, shaft and caisson work of every type and description and all operations incidental thereto, including, but not limited to, shafts and tunnels for sewers, water, subways, transportation, diversion, sewerage, caverns, shelters, aquafers, reservoirs, missile silos and steel sheeting for underground construction. Open cut construction work shall be construed to mean work which requires the excavation of earth including industrial, commercial and residential building site excavation and preparation, land balancing, demolition and removal of concrete and underground appurtenances, grading, paving, sewers, utilities and improvements; retention, oxidation, flocculation and irrigation facilities, and also including but not limited to underground piping, conduits, steel sheeting for underground construction, and all work incidental thereto, and general excavation. For all areas except the Upper Peninsula, open cut construction work shall also be construed to mean waterfront work, piers, docks, seawalls, breakwalls, marinas and all incidental work. Open cut construction work shall not include any structural modifications, alterations, additions and repairs to buildings, or highway work, including roads, streets, bridge construction and parking lots or steel erection work and excavation for the building itself and back filling inside of and within 5 ft. of the building and foundations, footings and piers for the building. Open cut construction work shall not include any work covered under Tunnel, Shaft and Caisson work. Excavation, site preparation, land balancing, grading, sewers, utilities and improvements; also including but not limited to, tunnels, underground piping, retention, oxidation, flocculation facilities, conduits, general excavation and steel sheeting for underground construction. Underground construction work shall not include any structural modifications, alterations, additions and repairs to buildings or highway work, including roads, streets, bridge construction and parking lots or steel erection.
