Improvements to existing parks/kayak launches along the Mahoning River. Project will feature an improved trail from Spring Commons to West Avenue, picnic table areas, concrete walkways, gathering areas, a vault restroom, expanded parking, and two new floating docks with gangways. There will be no temporary or permanent fill below the OHWM of the river and no involvement with wetlands. FEMALE Goals- 5%-10% ; MINORITIES - 25% - 35% (180) consecutive calendar days A. The project is located at two separate sites, one at 534 Mahoning Avenue (Spring Commons/B&O Station) and one at 71 N West Avenue (W Avenue Launch), both in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as improvements to the pedestrian trail that connects the two sites. B. The work to be performed at the Spring Commons/B&O St ation site includes the following: Base Bid a. Demolition of the existing parking lot in the northeast corner of the lot, demolition of the existing deck structure/overlook, removal of the existing floating dock, selectivedemolition of curb and sidewalk, removal of existing parking lot lighting, removal of the existing fence, selective tree removal, demolition of existing concrete steps, and removal/relocation of existing electrical facilities. b. Construction of a new asphalt parking lot with curb, detention basin with outlet structure, new sidewalk, stamped concrete plaza, trellis structure, concrete steps, retaining wall, site preparation for a packaged restroom facility fabricated by CXT, utility connections and service taps for the restroom facility, site lighting (including all conduits/wiring and electrical service components), landscaping, bike racks, picnic tables, and benches, and a floating dock. Bid Alternate a. Pavement resurfacing of the existing B&O Station drive and parking areas. b. Procurement and assembly of Adirondack chairs. C. The work to be performed at the W Avenue Launch site includes the following: Base Bid a. Demolition of the existing parking lot and concrete slab, removal of the existing floating dock, removal of existing guardrail, demolition/removal of existing paver stones and selective tree removal. b. Construction of a new asphalt parking lot, detention basin with outlet structure, concrete sidewalk, site lighting (including all conduits/wiring and electrical service components), landscaping, and a floating dock. Bid Alternate a. Construction of a new concrete walk and slab, procurement and installation of a small shelter and furnishings. D. The work to be performed on the trail connecting the two sites includes the following: Base Bid a. Demolition of existing fence and selective tree removal. b. Construction of a new asphalt trail and block retain ing wall. Bid Alternate a. Construction of a new concrete walk and slab, procurement and installation of a small shelter and furnishings. E. Allowance 1: This allowance is to be used for subgrade stabilization, shall it be necessary based on the Geotechnical Investigation Report. F. All walk and curb ramp installations must be ADA compliant. Miscellaneous and incidental repairs such as installation of new curb, grading, seeding & mulching, and pavement replacements are part of this project. G. Temporary fencing shall be erected around the limits of the site to deter individuals from entering the construction zone and for providing a secure spa ce for construction equipment. H. Contractor shall repair any damage done to site features intended to remain, including but not limited to curbs, pavement, signs, landscaping, or fencing.
