The intake gate, intake gate enclosure building, concrete deck and embedded parts will be reused, while the hoist system will be replaced with a new hoist system designed to allow YEC maintenance staff to perform regular inspection and maintenance on the intake gate as well as the new raised hoist. Currently, there is no means of raising the intake gate to a maintenance position without removing the gate hoist and using chain falls to raise the intake gate and suspend it off the exiting monorail beam. The Mayo Hydro Complex is located approximately 450 km north of Whitehorse. The Complex consists of the following components: Mayo Lake Storage Reservoir for Mayo Hydro Complex Mayo Lake Control Structure Regulating Dam at Mayo Lake Discharge Wareham Lake Forebay Pond for Mayo Hydro Complex Wareham Dam to impound Wareham Lake Wareham Spillway to Regulate Level of Wareham Lake Wareham Intake and Intake Gate Water Passage Entrance for Mayo A and Mayo B Hydro Plants Mayo A Surge Tank Mayo A (MH0) Hydro Plant Mayo B Surge Tanks Mayo B (MBH) Hydro Plant A site plan is shown in Appendix B of 79017-005-TSP-002-R0. The Mayo Hydro Complex was originally constructed in 1952, and the Mayo B plant was constructed in 2013. The Wareham Lake Intake supplies generation flow to both Mayo A and Mayo B hydro plants. The Mayo Hydro complex is operated year around to supply electricity to the Yukon Integrated Grid.
