This project involves the removal and replacement of an improperly installed sink drain system. The existing installation includes inconsistent pipe sizing, poor hanger placement, and the use of multiple incompatible pipe materials. The goal is to install a uniform, code-compliant, and professionally supported drainage system. Existing Conditions o Drainpipe transitions from 4" to 3" without proper reducers or justification. o Pipe hangers are poorly installed, leading to sagging and misalignment. o Three different types of piping materials are used. o Overall installation lacks uniformity and does not meet professional standards. o Piping leaks and has been leaking for some time and has damaged the ductwork it is laying on. Scope of Work Demolition & Removal o Disconnect and remove all existing sink drain piping. o MUSC will lockout sinks and RO system that dumps into that drain. o Safely dispose of all removed materials in accordance with local regulations. o Demo will happen last to minimize the downtime for lab sinks. Installation o Install new drain piping using uniform material. o 4" Orion PVC for 3" lines. The 2" lines may be able to go back in as 2" (Access on site) o Ensure consistent pipe sizing throughout the system (e.g., maintain 4" diameter unless otherwise justified by code). o New pipe would need to go through the ceiling on the 2nd floor to be tied in. I want to remove the glass elbow. o Install proper reducers if size transitions are necessary, with justification and code compliance. o Secure all piping with code-compliant hangers spaced. o Ensure proper slope for drainage (typically 1/4" per foot). o Seal all joints using approved methods. o Provide your own plank to work on to distribute weight across the ductwork. Testing & Inspection oPerform leak and flow tests to ensure system integrity. Materials Required (based on current design) o Approximately 30' of 4" S40 Orion PVC o Approximately 10' of 2" S40 Orion PVC o All fittings to create correct drainage slope for 2" pipe o Approximately three 4" elbows o One 4" reducing Tee (4 to 2)
