Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Chicago, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Work under this item shall include furnishing and installing 2.5" Type K copper water service by directional bore, fittings, appurtenances, to feed the Truck Marshalling Yard Building from South Building pump room as shown on plans and specifications developed by Milhouse Engineering dated 8/11/25. Base Bid: A. Plumbing scope 1. Truck Marshalling - Disconnect interior piping from existing incoming water service at Truck Marshalling Building. Remove existing riser piping up to first point of connection. Remove underground existing abandoned water service piping as necessary to allow room for new water service. Route new water service riser in place of removed existing abandoned water service riser. Connect new 2.5" service riser to existing 2" CW piping with concentric reducer fitting. 2. McCormick South Building - Connect new 2.5" water service to existing CW main in pump room of McCormick Place South Building. New water service drops underground in corner of Mechanical Room and is routed through the labor pool into the pump room. Install new RPZ and route drain to nearest existing floor drain in mechanical room. Civil scope - Provide new 2.5" Type K copper water service incoming water service (approximately 2,486 LF) from McCormick South Building to Truck Marshalling Building via directionally bore. Backfill, repave, stripe parking lot to restore to existing condition and elevation. Replace existing sewer pipes with water main quality ductile iron pipe as required by IEPA and shown on the drawings. C. Pricing should consider cold weather work as a potential add to the project. Alternate 1: Install 2.5" K Copper water service by open trench. Additional excavation, backfill, and restoration required to open trench to be included. If Alternate open trench method is used, coordinate with MPEA staff to install low voltage conduit in trench. In accordance with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority Act (70 ILCS 210/23.1(b)), the Authority has adopted and maintains a Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprise procurement program for any and all work undertaken by the Authority. The Authority's goals for MBE and WBE participation in the performance of the Services are 25% and 5% respectively. PROJECT LABOR AGREEMENT AND PREVAILING WAGE This project is subject to the terms of the Authority's Project Labor Agreement. Wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed under subcontract awarded pursuant to this RFP shall be subject to the provisions of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/1 et seq. The Authority will accept questions, in writing via e-mail, until 12:00 PM Central Time, on Monday, October 27, 2025. Questions should be submitted in writing to mpeaprocurement@mpea.com. A summary of questions received, noted without source, and answers will be issued as an addendum on the MPEA procurement website by Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Provide a letter from a surety demonstrating the Respondent's capability to provide a payment and performance bond for construction services, the letter should also state the Respondent's overall bonding capacity. Contractors must comply with the Authority's Project Labor Agreement and pay prevailing wages. The Authority reserves the MPEA WATER MAIN FOR TRUCK MARSHALLING YARD #2025-27-M Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) 10 right to reject any or all submittals, to waive any informality or irregularity, and to accept any responsive submittals which it may deem to be in the best interest of the Authority. Only submittals from responsible Proposers complying with the provisions of this RFP will be considered. These buildings have a combined total of more than 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space, and over 600,000 square feet of meeting rooms, making it the nations largest convention center. McCormick Place hosts approximately 125-150 events and attracts more than 2.5 million trade and public show visitors annually. McCormick Place features the Arie Crown Theater, a renovated proscenium arch theatre which seats approximately 4,200. Two separate buildings, the Energy Center and the Corporate Center, are also part of the MPC The Authority also owns the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, a recently renovated and expanded 1,258-room hotel and conference center located adjacent to McCormick Place. The Hyatt Corporation is responsible for the operation and management of this Hotel under a management agreement with the Authority. Two additional facilities opened at McCormick Place in 2017: a 1,206-room Marriott Marquis Chicago Hotel and the 10,000 seat Wintrust Arena, a multi-purpose facility that serves as a first-class NCAA basketball arena and general assembly hall for large business meetings and other major special events. The facility hosts DePaul NCAA mens and womens home basketball games, tournaments, and other DePaul events and the WNBA's Chicago Sky. Work under this item shall include furnishing and installing 2.5" Type K copper water service by directional bore, fittings, appurtenances, to feed the Truck Marshalling Yard Building from South Building pump room as shown on plans and specifications developed by Milhouse Engineering dated 8/11/25. Hard copies are not required at this time.
