St. Petersburg College is soliciting qualifications from Florida state-licensed contractors for the Palladium Theater at St. Petersburg College. The project consists of the renovation of the Hough Auditorium ceiling and attic, balcony overbuild, acoustic door replacement, replacement of auditorium seating, and technical back of the house spaces. The intent of this project is to proceed with construction based on the provided construction documents (CDs). The goal is to complete the project as specified within the scope of these documents. However, should the budget exceed the allocated amount, value engineering will be required to reduce costs by removing or modifying certain elements of the project while maintaining the overall integrity and functionality. The venue comprises two entertainment spaces: Hough Hall and the Side Door Cabaret. Hough Hall, the primary focus of this renovation project, is an 850-seat main stage performance space renowned for its exceptional acoustics and rich historical ambiance. Recognized as a jewel within Tampa Bay's performing arts community, Hough Hall hosts a variety of events, including classical music, jazz, blues, opera, theater, Celtic performances, acoustic sets, and dance. The Side Door Cabaret, Tampa Bay's critically acclaimed listening room, features 175 seats and offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience both established and emerging artists in an intimate nightclub setting. Originally constructed in 1926 as the First Church of Christ, the Palladium Theater was designed by Howard Lovewell Cheney of Chicago and built by the George A. Fuller Construction Company. The building reflects the Italian Renaissance Revival style and encompasses 12,600 square feet. The interior retains much of its original design, fixtures, and finishes, preserving its historic character. Owner will remove the pipe organ equipment from the loft prior to the start of work.
