The existing intake structure, constructed in 1975, is approaching the end of its useful life and poses risks due to lack of redundancy, frazil ice blockages, and capacity limitations during low river levels. Work involves construction of a second, in-channel, wedge-shaped intake structure located near the existing one. TIMELINE: The owner is seeking proposals from qualified engineering consulting firms to complete the preliminary design, secure regulatory approvals, prepare a complete tender package for construction, as well as provision of a cost estimate for construction. Tender and construction timelines to be determined. Further update pending award of contract.
