The objective of this RFP is to provide design, installation, testing and engineering services required for replacing an existing G3 CAT 3412 D with a new, QEC supplied diesel power genset, Caterpillar 3508 C with a capacity of 550 eKW at 600 V (see Owner Supplied Materials) at the Kimmirut power plant. Based on the estimation of the genset contractor, the estimated delivery of the genset is August 2026 in Kimmirut. Delivery is based on equipment being ready to ship, marine carrier's 2026 sailing schedule to Kimmirut, as well weather/ice conditions in 2026. The existing Genset #3's cooling, fuel, heat recovery, compressed air start systems and associated auxiliary equipment, piping and valves, as well as electrical main protection relay, power cables, control cables/wires, the control circuits and other devices need to be replaced and upgraded to accommodate the new genset. A new heat recovery of engine jacket water will need to be incorporated into the plant heating system. In addition, various supports and structures also require modification and/or re-fabrication to accommodate the new genset, piping and its auxiliary equipment.
