Reference Number 0000402635 The Mesa County 2025 Crack Sealing Project is intended to complete crack sealing on designated paved roads, as identified in the project plans and specifications. The project target roads in the clifton/Fruitvale area of Mesa County. The contractor is responsible for furnishing and installing a pre-approved, rubberized crack sealant conforming to applicable specifications. Properly clean and prepare all cracks to ensure adequate adhesion and performance of the sealant. Preparation includes weed removal, cleaning, and drying of cracks prior to application. Apply the crack sealant using approved methods and equipment to ensure uniform placement, full crack penetration, and a clean finish. All work shall comply with the latest Mesa County Public Works standards and shall be subject to inspection and approval by the County. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary labor, equipment, materials, and traffic control required to complete the work in a safe and efficient manner. Work shall be completed in accordance to CDOT Standard Specifications section 408, dated 2025. Limitations Crack sealing shall not be performed on areas exhibiting high severity block or alligator cracking greater than 10 SY. Crack sealing shall not be performed on the joint between the roadway and the curb & gutter. Materials All crack sealant material must meet ASTM D6690 Type II specifications, and be identified on the approved products list for CDOT. Traffic Control and Pedestrian Protection Traffic control and barricades for all on-call projects shall be provided by the Contractor. It is the contractor's responsibility to effectively barricade and secure the work area in order to preclude pedestrian access and protect pedestrians from work-site hazards as appropriate. All traffic control shall be accomplished by individuals which have completed a CDOT-approved two-day Traffic Control Supervisor training as offered by Colorado Contractor Association (CCA). Whenever traffic control is revised or flagging operations are conducted, a certified worksite traffic supervisor (ATSSA or CCA), with a current CDOT flaggers certificate, will be required. Copies of the certifications shall be included in the Proposal. Contractor shall submit for approval a TCP prepared by an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) certified individual or a professional traffic engineer, consistent with the M.U.T.C.D. The proposed TCP shall be approved in writing by the Engineer or County before the Contractor begins the corresponding phase of construction. The Contractor shall phase all work to minimize impacts to traffic and neighboring properties. The Contractor shall complete all work which affects any mode of traffic in a timely manner, and maintain access to the adjacent residences. The Contractor shall work diligently from the time an existing area is first disturbed to completion.
