Demolition and site work for a municipal facility in Akron, Ohio. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade municipal facility.
This project consists of the complete removal of the former Akron Public School Administration Building, including asphalt parking, driveways, sidewalks, and all other miscellaneous associated appurtenances on the site. The work also includes site restoration, grading, topsoil, and seeding. All plans must comply with the City of Akron, Construction and Material Specifications, 2008 Edition, and the City's standard construction drawings unless otherwise specified. Proposals must be submitted electronically. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check for 10% of the bid or a bid bond in like amount. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond for 100% of the contract price. Bidders must use the prepared forms provided and comply with nondiscrimination in employment requirements, equal employment opportunity requirements, and all other local, state, and federal codes and ordinances as specifically referenced. The Director of Public Service reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. All contractors and subcontractors involved in the project should, to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of the project. Domestic steel use requirements apply as specified. Proposals may be held for up to 120 days after opening for review and investigation of qualifications prior to award. Deadline for Questions to City November 7 by 11:00 am - All questions about the meaning or intent of the Proposal Documents must be submitted through the Bonfire website . Deadline for City Issuance of Responses to Questions November 13 by 11:00 am A. The scope of this Project is for the Contractor to provide a complete removal of the building located at 70 North Broadway Street (Former Akron Public Schools Administration Building) including all, foundations, interior and exterior walls, floor slabs, columns, roofs, asphalt parking areas, concrete walks and steps, bollards, and all other appurtenances within the property connected to the building including the abatement of all regulated materials. All utilities to be either removed or abandoned in place according to the plans and specifications. At the completion of the demolition, the contractor is to restore the site with grading, topsoil, and seeding. B. The south side of the building acts as a retaining wall and supports the south parking lot. Contractor to construct a new retaining wall after demolition of the building. C. All asbestos and hazardous materials must be removed from the building prior to general demolition procedures. Asbestos survey and abatement specifications are provided by HZW Environmental Consultants and are included in these specifications. D. Contractor must adhere to all Summit Soil and Water Conservation District requirements including providing a Storm Water Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for approval. The Work includes but is not limited to: 1. Hazardous materials abatement and disposal. 2. Building Demolition and disposal. 3. Disconnection and removal of utilities. 4. Grading and seeding
