With a view to decarbonization and improving energy efficiency, the project mainly involves the addition of heat pumps and other equipment such as electric water heaters or indirect equipment integrated into the buildings' existing systems. The work includes, but is not limited to: - Installation of new heat pumps, including visual screens on the roof (equipment provided by the City); - Integration of refrigerant heating coils into air handling units and other VRF (variable refrigerant flow) equipment (provided by the City); - Supply, installation, and connection of new heat or hot water distribution equipment (pumps, water heaters, piping, etc.) on the roof and in mechanical rooms; - Installation of new piping networks for glycol heating (hydronic or refrigerant loop); - Necessary electrical connection work; - Addition and connection of new equipment to the centralized regulation and control system; - Required structural modifications and reinforcements to buildings; - Work related to waterproofing and new roof openings; - Full commissioning of installations, in coordination with other disciplines and suppliers involved; - And any other related work required for the successful completion of the project. The work will take place during the winter in occupied buildings. Service interruptions (heating and domestic water) for the new connections should therefore have little or no impact on the occupants. Plan for this work to be carried out outside of occupancy hours if necessary.
