Plans call to construct a new state-of-the art 104 facility that will serve youth with the highest-level mental health needs. The supplemental funding of $104 million has been approved. As of October 31, 2025, design began in July 2025-July 2026. A series of six design workshops with Texas Juvenile Justice Department leadership launched on August 6 and will conclude on November 5, 2025. The execution date was scheduled in September 2025. Construction is slated to begin in April 2026-April 2028, with owner occupancy in August 2028-October 2028. The firm timelines have not been released.
