The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is seeking proposals to remove and dispose of the existing non-functioning HVAC system at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association, and to provide and install a new in-kind HVAC replacement, which includes a heat pump and air handler. The vendor must also provide a programmable thermostat, and ensure the new unit is supported by the current infrastructure's structural load, electrical, and ducting. The new heat pump and air handler must be installed in the existing locations, must not exceed the dimensions and weight of the current units, and must not utilize R410 refrigerant. Hangers or other bracing on trusses cannot be removed, and exterior changes to the building are not allowed. The vendor is responsible for disconnecting, removing, and disposing of the current system, cleaning out current refrigerant (R22) from existing piping, replacing refrigerant piping, installing all necessary components, providing labor and materials for repairs, and testing the system for functionality. Attendance at a mandatory pre-proposal site visit is required to submit a bid. Bidders must comply with State of New York laws and provide required documentation, including manufacturer authorization (if not the manufacturer), a product specification sheet, and proof of EPA Section 608 Certification with their bid. Time permitting, inquires may be made at the site visit.
