Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Courtenay, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 11,840-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
The City of Courtenay is seeking Proposals from qualified construction management firms for preconstruction, construction and post construction services for the East Courtenay Firehall project, located at 220 Waters Place in Courtenay BC. The City is seeking a qualified Construction Manager ("CM") to support the delivery of a new satellite firehall that will serve the growing needs of East Courtenay. The facility is intended to enhance emergency response capabilities, support operational efficiency, and reflect the City's broader commitments to sustainability, resilience, and responsible urban development. The future home of the East Courtenay Firehall is located at 220 Waters Place, on a partially developed site that was purpose-built as a training yard for the Courtenay Fire Department. Approximately 2,600m2 (0.64 acres) of the property was intentionally reserved for the construction of this facility. Preliminary site servicing is already in place, including BC Hydro rough-ins, utility stubouts, and a fire hydrant. The firehall itself will be roughly 11,840 square feet in size. The East Courtenay Firehall will include: Two double-length, drive-through apparatus bays, with provisions to accommodate a third bay in the future to support long-term operational growth; Space for administration and fire suppression crew support functions; Dormitory-style rooms for firefighters on shift; Health and wellness room; Training room; Washrooms; Dedicated personal locker space for paid-on-call firefighters; and Designated decontamination area will also be incorporated to allow firefighters to remove and clean contaminated gear and equipment upon returning from emergency responses.
