Demolition and renovation of an educational facility in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade educational facility.
Furnishing and installation of two HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8 cast-iron hot-water boilers or approved equals at the Williams Intermediate School, including demolition and removal of two existing boilers and all related work necessary for a complete, operational system. Bidders must be qualified in the DCAMM HVAC category and provide a 5% bid bond and 100% performance and payment bonds. Prevailing wage rates apply. All proposals must be submitted in accordance with the provided specifications and bid forms. Any questions can be submitted through COMMBUYS or directed to: Mark Chiocca, Director of Facilities, through email: mchiocca@bridge-rayn.org Phone: 508-697-6902 ext. 35308 Project Description The purpose of this project is to replace two (2) existing HB Smith cast-iron hot-water boilers at Williams Intermediate School -- Boiler #4 (currently inoperable) and one additional boiler identified by the District as closest to its end of service life. The work includes demolition and removal of existing boilers, installation of two (2) new HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8, C.I. Knock Down water boilers or approved equivalents, reconnection to existing systems, with all necessary modifications, insulation, start-up, and commissioning. The existing Power Flame burners shall be retained, inspected, and reused. All project work will be brought in through the back loading dock doors. All bids must be submitted using the attached bid form. III. Scope of Work The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, permits, and services necessary to complete a fully functional and code-compliant installation, including but not limited to: 1. Removal and proper disposal of two existing HB Smith boilers and associated obsolete equipment and controls. 2. Preparation of the existing concrete pads to receive new boilers. 3. Supply and installation of two (2) new HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8 cast-iron sectional, knock-down hot-water boilers (basis of design), field-assembled per manufacturer specifications. 4. Reuse and reinstallation of existing Power Flame burners. 5. Modification and reconnection of hydronic supply and return piping. 6. All new exposed hydronic piping shall be insulated with 1" fiberglass insulation covered with A.S.J. jacketing and Zeston fittings. 7. Connection to existing venting, fuel, and electrical systems. 8. All electrical wiring to be performed by Massachusetts-licensed electricians using copper conductors (THHN/THWN) and NEMA-rated materials. 9. Installation of all required safety and operating controls, gauges, valves, and relief devices. 10. Commissioning, test-firing, and start-up by manufacturer-certified technicians. 11. Comprehensive operator training for District maintenance staff on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 12. Delivery of all manuals, warranty certificates, and as-built drawings upon completion. 13. The awarded contractor will guarantee, either by repair or replacement, any original defects in parts, materials, or workmanship in connection with installation for one (1) year after completion; this includes twenty (24) hour service during the warranty period. 14. Job completion by Dec. 31 2025
