Renovation of a museum in Kingstree, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 7,475-square-foot museum.
SCOPE OF WORK The project scope consists of the following: 1. The replacement of the roof deck and structure including foundation work at the new columns. 2. The stabilization of existing masonry structure. 3. Repairs to the parapet walls, roofing, and flashing at intersections of parapet wall to adjacent intersections. New coping to be in keeping with the historic building. 4. A new roof membrane. 5. The demolition of the existing warehouse portion of the building and re-enclosing with a new exterior wall. 6. The relocation of the existing electrical panel and meter from the warehouse portion to the main building. This project is funded, in part, by a Historic Preservation State Grant from and administered by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH) as well as a Hurricane Florence Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Grant from the National Park Service and administered by SCDAH. The C Williams Rush Museum of African-American Arts & Culture is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource within the Kingstree Historic District and all work must be in accordance with the attached plans and specifications that have been approved by SCDAH to be in compliance with the applicable Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties.
