Renovation of a library in Birmingham, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade library.

Sealed bids are requested for foundation repairs at Birmingham Public Library North Avondale located at 501 43rd St N, Birmingham, AL 35222. All bids must be submitted on a lump sum basis using the provided proposal form in duplicate. Attendance at a mandatory pre-bid conference is required for consideration of a bid. Bidders must include all necessary material, labor, bonds, permits, overhead, profit, taxes, and insurance in their bid. Bids must be accompanied by an acceptable bid bond or cashier's check equal to five percent of the bid amount, subject to a maximum of $50,000. For contracts of $50,000 or more, bidders must be licensed general contractors in Alabama, and the license number must be displayed on the bid envelope. The successful bidder will be required to provide performance and payment bonds each in the amount of 100% of the contract, and proof of insurance. Bids must remain valid for sixty days after bid opening. The City of Birmingham reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. Special attention is called to the voluntary inclusion of Minority Business Enterprises and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in the project. The Contractor shall submit a LUMP SUM BASE BID proposal which shall include all costs for the Birmingham Public Library North Avondale Foundation Repairs, located at 501 43rd Street North, Birmingham, AL 35222 and all systems, services and structures as required for this project as provided in the construction documents. B. It is the intent of these documents to require the contractor to include in his bid all costs involved for the coordination of all trades to the successful completion of this project as specifically outlined, required, or reasonably implied. C. PROJECT SUMMARY: Structural scope of the project consists of installation and design of new helical anchors with underpinning brackets to support the existing structure. The extents of the new post-installed helical anchors are to be as indicated on the plans. While the precise goal for each phase of the City construction projects may vary from phase and year to year, the minimum goal to be used for City projects is 20 percent MBE/DBE participation. Question Deadline 11/28/2025 Should any omission, discrepancy, ambiguity, or area in the Drawings and Specifications, or in any of the Contract Documents be discovered, or should there be any doubt as to the meaning or intent thereof, report such findings to the Architect in writing. Questions should be received by the Architect at least five (5) days prior to the date set for receiving of bids. The Architect will check discrepancy and if clarification is needed, clarification will be issued by Addendum.
