Orchard Mesa Irrigation District (OMID) is requesting proposals from qualified engineering firms to provide Engineering and Permitting Services for the Canals 1 & 2 Piping Project in Palisade, Colorado. The project will modernize approximately 8.4 miles of OMID's open canal system by converting Canals 1 and 2 (and the Canal 2 overflow ditch) into a pressurized pipeline system, with the aim of enhancing operational efficiency, conserving water to support baseflows in the Colorado River's 15-Mile Reach, and increasing drought resilience for OMID's service area. The selected firm will be responsible for developing 30%, 60%, and 100% design plans and specifications; completing required environmental and cultural resource compliance and permitting; preparing and supporting bid-phase and construction-phase activities; providing construction administration and oversight services during construction; and coordinating closely with OMID, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and Farmers Conservation Alliance throughout project delivery.
