Renovation of a stadium in Irvine, Alberta. Design plans call for the renovation of a stadium.
Upgrades to the Irvine Sportsplex Arena: - Replacement of the existing ice slab and embedded refrigeration piping - Demolition includes the removal of the existing below-slab heat lines. - Replacement of the existing dasher boards, glazing and netting including the players bench and timekeeper station. The new board system shall be anchored to the new slab. Dasher boards and associated player/penalty boxes are to be consistent with Hockey Canada specifications achieving NHL ice surface size. - Replacement of the ice plant to a skid-mounted system positioned outside the building and will service the hockey arena and the curling rink. - Creation of additional spectator bleachers including designated raised wheelchair seating meeting accessibility standards. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants has been awarded. Scope of work includes design, tender and contract supervision services. Design and tendering will be completed in 2026; construction is planned for 2027.
