Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Needham, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the construction of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The Town of Needham is located approximately 12 miles west of Boston with a population of about 30,000 residents. In April 2023, the Town of Needham submitted a Statement of Interest to the MSBA for the Pollard Middle School. The MSBA is an independent public authority that administers and funds a program for grants to eligible cities, towns, and regional school districts for school construction and renovation projects. At the October 30, 2024, Board of Directors meeting, the MSBA Board voted to issue an invitation to the Owner to conduct a feasibility study for this Statement of Interest to identify and study possible solutions and, through a collaborative process with the MSBA, reach a mutually agreed upon solution. The Feasibility Study will study both the status-quo solution which maintains the current grade configuration of 7th and 8th grades at Pollard Middle School with the 6th grade remaining at High Rock. The space program will be configured to meet the MSBA Middle School space standards and address all the existing deficiencies noted in the SOI. This part of the study will investigate multiple options including: A) renovation of the existing building with removal and replacement of the existing 20-year-old modular classrooms B) Addition / renovation options, C) New construction and demolition on the current site and D) New construction on the adjacent DeFazio Site including the demolition of existing school buildings on the Pollard Site.
