Work shall include water line service replacements including the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the project. The contractor is responsible for determining the actual lengths, depths, and locations of all utilities prior to construction. Work must proceed in a careful and workmanlike manner with as little inconvenience as possible to property owners, tenants, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic. All areas disturbed by construction must be restored to a condition at least equal to that existing at the time work commenced. Special attention is required to lawns, walks, and driveways. All existing pipes, valves, hydrants, and other appurtenances must be protected. The contractor is responsible for the removal and legal disposal of all excavated materials, debris, and surplus material. All work must comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards. Bidders must examine the site and the documents, inform themselves of all conditions, and notify the engineer of any discrepancies. All bids must be submitted on the forms provided, accompanied by the required bid security. Bidders must be prepared to submit a list of proposed subcontractors and their experience as requested. Failure to complete the work within the time specified, or to perform required maintenance during the guarantee period, may result in forfeiture of the bid security and be considered sufficient grounds for the City to proceed against the contractor.
