Renovation of a transportation facility in Atlanta, Georgia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
The City of Atlanta will shortly undergo a procurement process for the replacement of aging network switches located in ceiling-mounted enclosures throughout airport concourses and terminal areas. Interested vendors are invited to participate. The city's expectation is that the selected vendor will perform the safe removal and installation of City-provided switches, ensure proper functionality, and coordinate with airport network staff to minimize operational disruption. Vendors capable of performing this work during overnight maintenance hours, while adhering to all safety and security requirements, are encouraged to respond. A pre-solicitation conference will be noticed and then held to provide more details and address questions. The overall goal is to improve network reliability and maintain compliance with current operational standards. Background: The City of Atlanta, Department of Aviation, Technology & Digital Experience (TDE) has end-of-life switches located throughout the six concourses within the airport, as well as in the Atrium. These switches are located in NEMA boxes, which are mounted in the ceiling. There are approximately 55 switches located throughout Concourses A-F, T, and Main Terminal (an average of about five (5) switches per concourse). TDE is seeking a contractor to replace the switches within the ceilings. This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the roles, responsibilities, and deliverables for the NEMA Box Switch Upgrade Deployment at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The selected Contractor will provide labor, expertise, and materials (excluding airport-provided network switches) necessary to replace the existing end-of-life network switches. The Contractor will be responsible for removing existing switches, installing new ones, testing functionality, and ensuring minimal disruption to operations. The Contractor work will include but is not limited to: o Open special tiles in ceilings. o Replace the old switch with a new switch provided by NOC. o Remove existing network switches and associate cable as needed. o Test new switch functionality with NOC Engineer. o Orient switch according to NOC team's written and verbal instructions. o Ensure proper power and network connectivity for each switch. o Test and verify network connectivity and performance post-installation. o Provide necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the replacement process. o Adhere to safety regulations, including the use of proper PPE and fall protection when working in ceiling spaces. o Maintain a clean and organized work environment. o Address any issues or defects discovered during installation promptly Each NEMA box is 36" high x 24" wide x 13" deep. Each switch is 1.73" high x 17.5" wide x 24.2" deep, including power supplies, power cords, and backplane cables and weighs approximately 26.5 pounds (20.5 lbs. plus 2 x PSUs at 3 lbs. each). Current Switch Dimensions to be Replaced: 3850-24XU H x W x D: 1.75 x 17.5 x 16 and the New Switch Dimensions: (1 of the 2 following models) 9300-48HX H x W x D: 1.73 x 17.5 x 19 or 9300-48HXN H x W x D: 1.73 x 17.5 x 17.57. Power supplies, backplane cables, power cords add about 5.2 to the depth of all switch models.
