Question Deadline 12/12/2025 at 4:00 PM CT The College is seeking proposals from qualified design firms to develop a companion HVAC/R training Lab, expanding upon the programs existing 3,300-square-foot lab by converting an additional 2,400 square feet of former kitchen space. The redesigned Lab will add capacity to the program which solves safety challenges in the current lab, which lacks sufficient workstations, commercial HVAC equipment, and space for essential systems such as boilers, mini-splits, and advanced refrigeration units. The project aims to create a modern, industryaligned instructional environment that supports both residential and commercial HVAC/R training, meets employer expectations for hands-on competency, and allows for the launch of a full AAS degree in HVAC/R. The newly added space already includes essential utilities-water, electric, sewer, gas, and ventilation-allowing for strategic integration of equipment with minimal mechanical modifications. Scope of work may include wall removal or restructuring, equipment placement planning, and optimization of existing infrastructure to safely support high-pressure gases, refrigeration systems, open-flame workstations, and commercial HVAC units. Construction on the new lab space may occur during the academic year, and project work will begin as soon as the bid is awarded. The final design should prioritize safety, functionality, workforce alignment, and long-term program growth. Key features of the project include: Expansion of equipment heavy HVAC Lab Fast design schedule The Owner desires to enter into a contract with the successful Vendor by January 15, 2026. The length of such contract will be approximately three years. If the Owner and the Vendor are unable to negotiate and sign a contract by January 15, 2026 then the Owner reserves the right to seek an alternative Vendor.
