West Taxiways Development at Chicago O'Hare International Airport Deadline for Questions: 04:00 PM Central Time, 10-DEC-2025 Bids requiring a bid deposit must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, provided by a surety company authorized to do business in the United States, and made payable to the City of Chicago. Any late Bids received after announced date and time, for the opening of Bids, will not be accepted. The City has set an overall DBE Program Goal of 30%. SCOPE: a. Project Description: The West Taxiways Development project includes 3 construction projects: (See Fig. 2) Project 1: Construction of a new Taxiways "T" and "R" between taxiways "A and "K" Project 2: Excavate and build the GSR structure beneath the future Taxiways "T" and "R", install the pumping station and utilities, and backfill to the planned subgrade. The surface above is not available for aircraft until this backfill is complete. This work must be finished first in the affected areasso overlying taxiways can be constructed. Once backfilled, construction of "R" and "T" Taxiways can proceed. Project 3 Construct and commission the new RTR-U facility. After the new site is tested and accepted, the existing RTR-U will be taken out of service and demolished per the plans. Project Schedule This project is scheduled to begin in early spring 2026, with a duration of approximately 850 days, placing substantial on August 1, 2028. project no- OH6154.18.AA General Description of the Work: The Project consists of furnishing all means, methods, labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and services for performing all work as shown on the Contract Drawings and as described in the Technical Specifications, including all incidentals, appurtenant work, and accessories, to the complete satisfaction of, approval, and acceptance by the City ("Work"). The scope of Work associated with the construction of the West Taxiways Development Project includes, but is not limited to, the following items: Remote Transmitter and Receiver U (RTR-U) Relocation Constructing a new RTR-U Facility, design and installation of a new Low-Level Wind Shear Alert System (LLWAS) tower and tower foundation, assisting in commissioning the RTR-U Facility and LLWAS tower, and demolition of the old RTR-U Facility. Construction of a new hazardous materials (HAZMAT) Building, installation of communication ductbank and communication cables, installation of CECO ductbank and manholes, installation of erosion control devices and security measures, installation of a new service road, grading, and installation of drainage, topsoil, seed, and mulch. Grade Separated Service Road Constructing and commissioning a new Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) grade separated roadway, which will allow vehicles to pass underneath the proposed Taxiway A & B North south (Taxiway by others), PCC retaining walls, earth retention system; and construction of GSR lighting, fire suppression system, storm sewer pipe, and manholes. Constructing and commissioning a new PCC pump station, cement masonry unit (CMU), and electrical house; providing a Commissioning Authority; managing and scheduling sub-contractors and vendors; testing; and coordinating with the Commissioner during the entire commissioning process. Taxiways A & B North-South - Phase 2 Constructing new Taxiway A & B PCC taxiway pavement and bituminous taxiway shoulders, grading, installation of erosion control devices, and installation of underdrain, storm sewer, manholes, catch basins, airfield lighting, airfield signage, and electrical systems. Installation of pavement marking artificial turf, topsoil, seed, and mulch. This General Description of the Work is intended to be general in nature and is neither a complete description nor a limitation on the Work to be performed. Contractor must perform all Work described in the Contract Documents or reasonably inferable as necessary to produce the results specified therein, except to the extent Work is specifically indicated in the Contract Documents to be the responsibility of others. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
