As of December 9, 2025, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Bidding is projected to commence in July 2027, with construction following in October 2027. 453106-1 S.R. 45 (U.S. 41) from North of S.R. 78 to Diplomat Parkway The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is proposing improvements along State Road (S.R.) 45 (U.S. 41/N Cleveland Avenue) from north of S.R. 78 (Pine Island Road) to Diplomat Parkway in North Fort Myers, Lee County. The purpose of the project is to enhance safety by providing improvements at several intersections including modifying the directional median opening into the Merchant's Crossing shopping plaza, modifying the intersection at Stockton Street to restrict eastbound and westbound through movements, and providing a full signalized intersection at Diplomat Parkway. Additional improvements include installing lighting along the corridor from S.R. 78 (Pine Island Road) to Stockton Street.
