Renovation of a multi-residential development in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Completed plans call for the renovation of a multi-residential development.
This project involves the elevation of six flood-prone single-family homes in New Smyrna Beach, located within Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) classified as Zone AE per FEMAs Flood Insurance Rate Maps. These homes have a history of recurring structure flooding, with finished floor elevations below the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) established by FEMA, placing them at imminent risk of continued flooding. The goal is to elevate these homes to 10 feet from existing ground level as part of a hazard mitigation effort supported by FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), reducing or eliminating future flood-related damages and claims. The project will use federal funds secured under the HMGP Contract No. 4337-373-R-b. Upon completion, the homes will be protected against a 100-year storm event. Bidders are expected to address the requirements for raising these homes, including compliance with relevant floodplain management and construction standards to ensure the long-term resilience of the properties.
