This project involves the repair and improvement of five upland dredged material placement areas associated with the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) in Carteret, Onslow, Pender, and Brunswick Counties, North Carolina, including one site at Camp Lejeune in Onslow County. Work includes clearing the upland placement areas and raising and stabilizing perimeter dikes to varying elevations, not exceeding 20 feet NAVD88. The project also requires the complete replacement of six spillway systems across the sites, consisting of platform structures, stoplogs, and pipe systems to drain water from future dredged material. Tree clearing activities must comply with environmental windows for bats, which occur from December 15 to February 15 (Winter Torpor) and May 1 to July 15 (Pupping season). Location: Carteret, Onslow, Pender, and Brunswick Counties, North Carolina, including Camp Lejeune in Onslow County. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00.
