Site work and paving for a road / highway in Branford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade road / highway.
The project is for the Reconstruction of East Industrial Road from the Leetes Island Road intersection to west of Pin Oak Drive, including parts of the I-95 On and Off Ramp. Bids must be received in the Finance Department, 2nd Floor Town Hall by the specified deadline. No bids will be accepted after that time, and bids will be publicly opened immediately following the deadline in the conference room located on the basement floor of Town Hall. Bids must be held for ninety days beyond the bid opening date. Contractors are required to pay at least the prevailing wage rates on the project if the bid amount exceeds $100,000, as established by the State of Connecticut. Both state and federal prevailing wages apply. Each contractor or subcontractor performing work must comply with all laws governing the employment of labor, Social Security, and Unemployment Insurance of both the state and federal government. Box 150 Branford, CT 06405 Fax: (203)-315-2188 E-mail: jhoefferle@branford-ct.gov MBE (9.0%), WBE (6.9%) The Town of Branford wishes to have the curb, roadway, and drainage structures reconstructed as shown in the included map and plans. The roadway will be reconstructed by full depth reclamation with new lane striping. The excess material shall be hauled and removed. The reclaimed material will be supplemented with a layer of processed aggregate base and paved. Additional pedestrian amenities including a new concrete sidewalk, a pedestrian refuge island, and retroreflective flashing beacons shall be installed at locations indicated by the plans. In areas in which there is a new concrete sidewalk, the curbing shall be concrete and monolithic. In all other areas unless specifically mentioned, the existing bituminous curb shall be removed, and a new bituminous curb will be installed. All existing drainage structures located within the project limits will be removed and disposed of and replaced with new structures. Existing drainage pipe connections shall remain and be re-connected to the new structures. All existing sanitary structures located within the project limits shall be reset with elastomeric adjustment rings installed. All existing gas valves and curb boxes shall be reset to the proposed elevations as shown on the plans. In locations in which the roadway meets an existing driveway, the driveway shall be reconstructed as shown in the plans with the same existing material. The driveways shall also be sawcut in locations where they are needed to meet existing. Existing signs along the project limits shall be replaced, as shown in the plans. Traffic control and new pavement markings will be required under this contract. All traffic controls required, except for Municipal Police, will be incidental to this contract and will not be paid separately. There shall be two add alternates to be submitted with the base bid, Alternative 1 and Alternative 2 respectively. The Base bid shall consist of all proposed improvements within the original proposed limits between Station 0+00 to 19+50. For Alternative 1, there shall be no reclamation of roadway from station 19+50 to 32+50. The roadway from this project limit will be milled, paved with two lifts of 1.5''of HMA S0.375, and restriped as shown on the contract drawings. There shall be no other work performed from Station 19+50 to 32+50. For Alternative 2, all proposed work from station 19+50 to 32+50 shall be performed. This work shall include drainage work, utility work, full depth reclamation, paving, grading, and driveway work as shown on the contract drawings. *The list of planholders and/or interested bidders is not being tracked by the stakeholders involved with this project.
